West Seattle resident Jennifer Black embraces being an entrepreneur and is truly passionate about providing timely solutions to challenges faced by an aging local population.

She created Caring Transitions to help families and older adults navigate difficult transitions throughout the planning, moving and move-in process for downsizing and care facilities.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services estimates that by 2050 the number of people living in long-term care facilities will double. As this trend plays out in every community in the United States, seniors and their children are faced with difficult issues that range from disposing of a lifetime of belongings to their actual move.

Caring Transitions manages relocation logistics and communications with all parties involved in a move to create the best possible, stress-free outcome. Often times, the best way to begin is with a free home visit, which jump-starts the decision-making process.

The management of antiques and collectibles are often a natural part of the downsizing process. Jennifer offers a solution, as her business incorporates her love of antiques and collectibles. “I am hoping to expand our on-line auction business. There are so many people that have unique and interesting items that they would like to resell or repurpose. With the online sale format, we can partner items together.”

While Jennifer’s office is located in West Seattle, the Caring Transitions Franchises provide services across the Greater Puget Sound. Due to much demand, Jennifer recently expanded services to the Shoreline and Lake Forest Park communities, as well as an office in the south end that provides services into Olympia.

And, while the service is an attractive and worry-relieving option for older adults and their families, Caring Transitions’ is also a perfect solution for busy families and people clearing out the home of a loved one who has passed.
