Not Just Objects But History You Can Hold

Posted by on

We recently had the privilege of hosting an auction for a client with an extraordinary collection of Victorian jewelry. Decades ago, they had purchased the contents of an antique shop in Victoria, BC with the dream of opening a shop of their own. Though those plans never came to life, the jewelry was carefully tucked away for years—unworn and unseen. Photographing this collection was a rare joy; in nearly 15 years of helping clients downsize, I’ve only encountered a gathering of such beauty once before. What struck me most was the craftsmanship. The skill and artistry required to create these pieces in the 1800s is breathtaking, and when you see them, you know. I’m delighted to share that every piece found a new home and will now be cherished by a new generation. Antiques—whether jewelry, furniture, artwork, or decor—carry a quality and soul that often surpasses today’s mass-produced goods. They’re not just objects; they’re history you can hold.
